Rae - Custom
Rae came to me with dress inspiration from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The dress was circa 1950 with grey lace and a velvet belt. For anyone that knows me, they know my love for the 50's. I just had to say yes!
My first meeting with Rae was fun and exciting. I saw that she was an eclectic mix with her love of vintage and admiration for music, concerts, guitars, rock, metal, etc. etc. ... yea we have a lot in common. I was really excited to work with Rae, I knew that we were going to have an enjoyable experience.
We used the Met dress as inspiration to our final creation. The dress has a scoop neck bodice front with a scallop v back. The skirt is a high/low with crinoline under to create fullness and a train. We added a deep purple satin belt. Oh and of course the dress has pockets! We created a matching veil to top off the look. Did you see the lace?! I found a traditional vintage style lace that had a diagonal stripped pattern. Rae thought that I painted it. It does look spray painted and seriously cool.
I also worked with Halee, Rae's maid of honor we created a pretty cool dress that had load of design elements. The bodice has a high neck front and back that gathers into a flat band around the neck line. The skirt has 2 layers, the top layer is diagonal with hidden pockets and the bottom layer is slim with a sweep train. There is a lace sash sewn into the dress. The color is a lilac lavender. It worked perfectly with Rae's bridal party colors of an array of purples.
The entire experience with Rae and Halee with an absolute dream. During our appointments we jammed out and laughed our butts off. I didn't realize they drove 6 hours round trip to get to me! I knew they had a long trip, but it didn't really click till now. I feel honored that they chose to work with me.
Thank You Rae and Halee, for allowing me to be apart of your day. xo Sheila
